Create Crave-worthy Content on a Consistent Schedule.
So, you just have learned how to put together a basic content strategy, but writing might be a problem, right? Writing consistently on a schedule and posting relevant content that will convert visitors to customers seems bloody difficult.
And it is.
I have worked as a journalist for 12 years and still didn’t know how to write fast at scale.
I learned that skill only when I became a marketer — I was forced to come up with writing systems to write things easier and quicker.
You need a decent content writing system to speed up the process of writing, editing, distributing and repurposing content, or you may end up burned out and unhappy with the results from one-off posting.
So how to start small?
• Don’t stress if you’re not an excellent writer from the beginning. You need to be good enough and share your story. That’s enough to get you started before you’re ready to hire more people or even delegate-outsource.
• Basic writing skills can be learned quickly.
• Don’t expect to figure out the entire process immediately, even if you have a writing background - writing for the employer, agency, or your business is different.
• Once you know the big picture, you can outsource these tasks internally or externally. But the strategy and vision will remain yours.
Streamline your content creation process
Here’s a practical approach to streamline your content creation process:
1. Choose your social media platform(s):
Start with one or two platforms to focus your efforts. Consider your target audience and where they’re most active. If you have completed Chapter Three, you can answer this question easily.
2. Define your target audience:
Identify your ideal customer. Understand their needs, pain points, and desires. We went through the process of a perfect audience in Chapter Two.
3. Determine your content pillars:
Choose topics that define your business and resonate with your audience. This is part of your Content Strategy exercise in Chapter Five.
4. Test these ideas on the social network of your choice:
Or look at your past posts and find the best-performing posts. These are your main topics. Analyse your past posts to identify top-performing content.
5. Implement a 6-step content writing system:
Use this system and batch-create content. Before you start writing, here is task zero: ideation.
6-step content writing system
This writing system helped me write more than 8 000 000 words in English only in the last 7 years. It helps you stop feeling overwhelmed and take aciton, step by step.
I’ll explain every step in more details below, this is just a checklist for you:
