Get rid of overcomplicated and unrealistic morning routines

An apology
Hi, you may notice my newsletter is different this week. Last week, I was overwhelmed. I struggled to get my ideas on the screen. Some terrible things happened in my home country, and I spent the last few days after the double mass shooting in Serbia shocked, stressed and deeply concerned about the people there, although I live in Australia atm.
So, I apologise, but life is bigger than marketing. Marketing is important, however, many other things are far more essential, such as staying sane and healthy.
So, this week, instead of my regular newsletter, I’ve shared this post about sleep, as I lack good sleep these days, and that has a significant impact on my productivity and well-being.
Thanks
It became mandatory: for success in any field, you MUST stick to your perfect 10-step routine to prepare you for the “hell of the day”.
Morning routines gurus attack from all over the Internet.
We feel guilty if we don’t have all on our list:
📌 getting up at 5 AM
📌 cold shower each morning
📌 journaling
📌 meditating
📌 early-morning exercise
📌 green juice
📌 looking at the sun
...
But, let me tell you:
As a busy mum of three, who works full-time and is trying to build a side hustle, all that morning routine hype makes me anxious. It makes me feel like the day is a failure if I don’t follow the exact steps that many recommend.
You didn’t do enough.
You’re a failure.
Where did your day go?
We’ve all been there sometimes: days when you feel perpetually overburdened with all your personal and business chores, goals, and “to-do” tasks without any long-term and effective system to organise them and conquer your day.
I’ve been that person. Years of trial and error were required to improve my productivity skills. It took me even more time to use them actively and consistently. If you want to dive more into my tips and advice on a good morning routine, here is a blog post.
The truth is, we all need to find our way.
- Yes, I do have my routine
- And not, it’s not the same every day
- I'm trying to give myself space and avoid burnout (I've been there before, and it's not fun at all)
- Simplify when overwhelmed.
Yet, here is just one step we all must take if we want to stick to our morning routine:
💣 Getting enough sleep the night before.
If you don’t sleep enough, your morning routine will fall apart sooner or later.
It’s just a matter of time.
So, repeat after me:
A good night sleep is the most essential part of my morning routine.
A good night sleep is the most essential part of my morning routine.
