Marketing Fairy #20: It's Not Difficult Getting Followers. It's Difficult Make Them Clients >>>>
Hi there.
It’s been a crazy week, and I feel like good old insecurities have hit me hard. Again. I experienced this feeling when I was building my business for the first time (little did I know about business then).
I feel tired of the “hustle” culture and all these entrepreneurs sharing how they earned their hundreds of thousands and millions. I don’t want that today. Actually, I can't; to keep my employer-sponsored visa and get Australian PR, I need to stay employed full-time.
So, I promised myself a few months ago: I’ll do what I enjoy, sharing my knowledge about marketing and helping others improve their businesses through content. I know I’m good at it; everything else is imposter syndrome.
I know that some of you may have the same struggles, so I wanted to share that we are all in the same boat.
Big virtual hug,
Angelina
Transform Your Followers into Valuable Clients
You’ve built some following but leads and sales are not coming.
Speak Their Language
It’s vague advice - understand your audience. Easier said than done. To learn to speak their language and tap into their pains and struggles, I recommend using these:
Ask them! Surveys, quizzes, emails, and polls. Read reviews carefully. Hear what they have to say.
Connect with them on the network they already use, and use the unwritten rules of that channel to communicate. For example, I have multiple audiences for the same product in my full-time job. So we communicate using case studies and design challenges with architects on Linkedin and use the “hey mate” approach with tradies on Instagram (by the way, they generate a huge amount of UGC for us).
PRO tip:
Keep the responses from your surveys handy in one document so you can refer to them and find the proper words to use.
Engage Regularly
Don't just post and ghost. Engage with your followers, respond to their comments, and continue the conversation. I know it’s difficult, especially when you are a small business or even a “one-man band”. Read my two cents on what my small cleaning business has taught me about marketing.
PRO tip:
The keyword is planning and social media calendar. Batch posts, schedule them upfront, and then set a time just for engaging and responding to comments and messages.
First help, then sell
Establishing trust is essential for converting followers into clients. Share client testimonials, case studies, and valuable content that positions you as a trusted expert. But even better, help them first, so they know you can solve their problem.
PRO tip:
How can you help them? That depends on your industry, your product, and your market position.
To take my example again, we are wholesalers of composite decking in my primary job. Our way to help is to find a trustful installer, to help them choose a good builder, and to provide them with a free installation guide and a step-by-step guide on how to build their dream deck.
Always use Call-to-Action
Followers won't turn into leads if they don't know what to do next. Make sure your posts have a clear, concise call-to-action, guiding them to the next step. Some marketers say that would be a call-to-value, but your prospective clients won't make a move even if the value is communicated without action.
Remember, it's not about the numbers - it’s not relevant KPI anymore. It's about creating genuine relationships with your followers and guiding them down the path to becoming valuable leads. Because, in the end, quality always trumps quantity.
Take action now and start converting your followers into clients. If you need my help on that journey, contact me. I am always available for a FREE first strategy consultation.

Effective copywriting follows the rule of one:
Targets ONE person Has ONE goal Presents ONE offer Uses ONE big idea Sells ONE product.
