How I Write Articles Faster with Chat GPT and Otter.ai — Save 8 Hours Weekly.
Chat GPT is not your replacement, but it can be your intelligent assistant.
If your side hustle includes writing, I feel you.
Churning out high-quality content is time-consuming, and taking AI shortcuts to create it won’t help.
In best case, you will get a mediocre content you need to edit heavily to become decent, human-like piece of writing.
I used to hate that AI hype. Then, I realised that conquering means accepting and adapting.
I started using Chat GPT as my smart, submissive assistant, not a bossy, boring copywriter.
I’m using Chat GPT (and Gemini lately) for:
Ideation
Outlines
Headlines
CTAs
Let Chat GPT do the boring stuff — ideation, structures, outlines, and quick research. Then, use your time to sprinkle your creative magic and make content truly yours (and not kill your creativity — @Desiree Peralta).
1. Ideation made easy.
I’ll give you my example. This is what I asked Chat GPT:
My AI assistant came up with decent ideas in 2 seconds. I could also do that personally, but I’d need three to 13 hours.
Once I have plenty of targeted ideas, I just pick the one.
And give it the royal treatment.
Think about it.
While I’m in the shower.
While I’m cooking.
During a walk.
Sometimes, I become a little obsessed.
Then, when the idea is mature enough, I use my AI friend to help me write an outline.
2. Creating an effective outline
If you feed Chat GPT with decent prompts, to generate outlines, you can outline your article and organise your thoughts in a logical order in seconds, not hours.
This is an example of a prompt:
And it delivered a decent outline for an article. First, short and simple version:
And then extended the outline with more details:
Your outline must be logical and help you create a great article, not average, mediocre content.
I came up with my favourite structure, which I use to order outlines logically:
My main idea — topic
My POV — point of view.
The goal of the article

To me, help with outlining articles is a big time saver. You get the frame, just need to fill it with words!
Write while you walk.
I’m a busy mum of three kids with a full-time job. Spending hours writing an article is a luxury to me, so I’m taking shortcuts.
That’s where Otter.ai comes in. This voice-to-text app can help you transform your voice notes into first-draft articles.
You can live your busy life once you have your great idea and Chat GPT-produced outline.
But you can still leave voice notes while driving, cooking, and walking ( I haven’t tried it in the shower yet), and it will automatically transform them into a copy.
Once you have 5 minutes, just copy-paste your transcripts into your article, and you have your messy first draft!
3. Edit ruthlessly.
Once you have your first draft, leave it.
Let it soak overnight.
Because if you have written (talked) well, you used your emotions. To make a good article, you need to edit without any feelings, precisely like a surgeon.
Well, as I didn’t spend much time writing the article, I can focus more on the editing and refining process. I use free and low-cost online tools to help me improve my writing.

What next? Learn Prompting
Chat GPT and other AI language models prove the rule of thumb: the better input, the better output.
So give yourself time to learn prompting, or collect good prompts from creators you trust.
For starters, you can use the basic template to play with your prompts:
Act as a (specific expertise)
I want you to (specific request)
Include (particular points you wish to be included)
Don’t do (What you don’t want to be done)
Instead, do (what you want)
Provide output as ( form or word limit)
Another excellent AI tool you can use to generate decent outlines is Koala Writer. It is cost-effective and straightforward to use as it doesn’t require a prompt engineer to get a good outline.
